RIVER RIPPERS FISHING LURES
To get the complete picture of how River Rippers Fishing Lures came to be we have to take you back some 25 years, which is when the family of Perry Waghorn,
the owner of River Rippers, started their weekly treks up to their cottage in the Upper Ottawa Valley.
This particular lake was said to have bass, pike and walleye and since it was a relatively
small lake it would not, should not, could not be long until we located the lunkers in all three categories, right?
Now since this page is all about River Rippers let us jump ahead 20 years. At that point with 20 years of fishing history on this lake we would say that yes there was bass in in lake, both largemouth
and smallmouth, 1 - 3 lbs with the occasional bass tipping the scales at 4lbs. Yes there was pike in the lake, short skinny ones we affectionly called "hammer handles". Finnally we had come to the
conclusion that there not a single walleye in the lake.
Things were about to change!
One September day when Perry was reorganizing his tackle box he decided instead of throwing out a old beaten up crankbait
he seldom used he would make some mods to it. His thoughts were he would turn the somewhat mechanical crankbait into lifelike minnow immitation superduper fishing machine. Tying his
new creation to his line off went Perry fishing as he had so many times before. History had not changed when Perry got his first hit 5 minutes later as he knew
where to find the bass. It was actually 5 minutes later when history changed, the bass was not a bass but a 4lb walleye!
Updating our lake to present day we have to say thanks to River Rippers Fishing Lures, yes to bass up 6lbs, yes to pike averaging 4lbs up to 15lbs and yes to walleye
from 1 to 6lbs.
